I was a sculptor for twenty five years before I returned to painting. I still draw by sculpting, and I pull color from dimension and texture.

I cut my image/texture into a wood panel and then set it aside for a few days before painting. If the relief carving presents obstacles, those will be addressed through painting. I consider the entire process to be painting.
